RAMBLINGS | Dr. and Mrs. George Green, retired missionaries from Ogbo moso, Africa, have arrived for the I summer and are located in “Rock | Rest” cottage. More than forty | years were spent by Dr. Green in ! medical missions in Africa. The Rev. J. J. Johnson, former ; Missionary to the Cherokee In dians and now retired at Ridge ! crest, preached twice in the First Baptist Church of Sylva, North Carolina, last Sunday. Miss Naomi Braswell of Cram erton is at her cottage "Beside- The-Road’’ for the summer. Mrs. Fan Shuford of Lincolnton, manager of the Ridgecrest As sembly Gift Shop, arrived last Friday and will be here for the summer. Early arrivals for work on the Ridgecrest Assembly staff are Harvey Headrick of Longstreet, Louisiana, and Jay Cole of St. Louis, Missouri. Miss Annabelle Turner is tem porarily’ employed by the Assemb ly office for some extra work. Beginning June the first she will resume her work with the Ridge crest post office as clerk. David R. Wright, Jr., Canton, North Carolina, spent the day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Wright Sunday. General Manager. Robert Guy, has things humming in prepara tion for the opening of the Ridge crest Baptist Assembly on June the first. The enlarged kitchen and dining room will be in use this week. Hotels and rooming houses will be open for guests in a few days. It is interesting to see painters, carpenters, house cleaners, yard men, plumbers, re pair men, gardeners, clerks, sten ographers, bookkeepers, office workers and assistants rushing around and to and fro in a mad effort to be ready for the coming of the big conference. Messengers from the Southern Baptist Convention, Memphis, Tennessee, returned Monday. Representing the Ridgecrest church were Rev. Tom E. Walters, Dr. Hight C. Moore, and Dr. and Mrs. W. L. Hatcher. Mr. and Mrs. James I’. Morgan and daughter Susan returned from a visit with relatives and friends in Lebanon, Tennessee; Little Rock Arkansas; Okmulgee, Chick asha, Durant, Muskogee and Okla homa City, Oklahoma. They re turned from the Southern Baptist Convention to Durham where Mr. Morgan is Minister of Education in the First baptist church there, after spending Monday and Tues day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Morgan. Mrs. R. David Daniel and little daughter Cornelia after a three week’s visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Kale, left by plane yesterday to return to her home and husband in Boston, Massachusetts, where Dr. Daniel is a member of the staff of Chil dren’s hospital. Mrs. S. B. Moore is visiting her daughter, Mrs. George Allred. She will return to her home in Troutville, Virginia, tomorrow. Dr. J. N. Binford preached in the West Hickory and Clinchfield churches the past two Sundays. From Hickory they went to Greensboro for a visit with their daughter, and husband, Dr. and Mrs. Lake. Mr. and Mrs Theodore Allred and daughter Rebecca spent the week end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. George Allred. Mr. Al dred is a member of the U.S. Air Force and will soon leave for Los Angeles, California, from where he will sail with a replacement group to the South Pacific. Mrs. Allred and her little daughter Rebecca will return to their home in Traveler’s Rest, South Caro lina. JIMMY DOTSON HERE Jimmy Dotson and his son of Knoxville, Tennessee, are visiting his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Dotson, who live at the Black Mountain watershed. Mr. Dotson is employed by the Knox ville Poster Advertising company. He will remain here until Satur day. SING AT MOORE HOSPITAL Members of the Youth Fellowship of the Methodist church, accom panied by Mrs. Douglas Jones, counselor, and the Rev. and Mrs. Thad McDonald, went to Moore VA hospital to sing in the wai’ds Sunday afternoon.
